Here is a glimpse of my morning so far. And of course I am going to use it as analogy about our relationship with God.
Justin's alarm went off twice this morning before he got up. And both times I had to shake him a bit to get him to even acknowledge his alarm was going off. Then Jackson strolls in my room at 7 am this morning ready to go. But thankfully after a bit of coaxing he let me lay in bed for about 30 more minutes before he started asking for "cookie and Juice" and of course me being such the amazing mom that I am :) I enthusiastically jumped out of bed and joyfully bounced down the hallway to the kitchen to retrieve "cookie and juice" for my beloved son.
After checking email, texts and every one's favorite form of communication "Facebook" I started noticing this horrible aching pain behind my eyes. O JOY! A headache to deal with today. REALLY!!!
So I took some medicine and got dressed and decided to take a walk with Jackson to the park. This is where the real fun began!
My once 1 pound 11 ounce baby boy now weighing in at 21 pounds is learning how to "get his way" how exert his independence and how to work my heart. He is an official "2" year old I suppose.
We are on the sidewalk walking to the park and there it is. The playground. True adventure or a 33 inch tall 2 year. Slides of all shapes and sizes. Steps of all legths and challenges to sooth his boyish desires. O what fun! He was so excited when he saw the park. Only problem, he saw his reward to soon and wanted to cut off the sidewalk and walk through the rocks. The rocks would present such a great challenge for a little guy like Jackson. He saw the park and wanted to go the quickest route. Even though I was there telling him just a bit farther and it will be so much easier. Jackson just didn't understand. So I walked over and picked him and gently showed him the way over.
How many times do we do that with God? We see the end but know God requires just a bit more of us. We see the easy way to new car, way out of a bad marriage, think its just easier to do it my way....when ,if we just allow God to carry us a bit further and our finale destination will be easier to reach. Listening and following God's directions on your Finances may take you a bit longer to reach that new car, but you will be in a better place financially doing it His way. Or following God's word when it comes to the marriage you may not be completely happy with. Seek Gods advice and his way will more than likely not cause you so many bumps and trips and falls. Like Jackson would have had if he would have continued to walk on the rock to the park.
I want to challenge you this week to Stop, just pause, and seek God before as many decisions as possible. Decisions anywhere from what to make for dinner, should I buy this new lipstick,or should I say this to my husband/friend or hold my tongue, should I leave the house and use the gas just to make a run to Wal-Mart. See what God desires of you this week and if his direction on everyday situations can be easier if we allow God to carry us through them.
